Clueso & Bernewitz Trio
Welcome to Clueso.de's private pages.
Because other than directly with the Clueso & Bernewitz Trio project, you're never going to get any closer to these artists.
Christoph Bernewitz, guitarist in the Clueso band, is the head of the trio and is responsible for the name. The rest of the lineup is covered by Matthias Eichhorn on the contrabass and Jan Roth on drums. The Bernewitz Trio swing to Clueso's poetry, songs, and raps in a unique style -- between traditional and freestlye jazz, and between deep meaningful songs reminiscent of Tom Waits, and gentle jams. Everything that occurs during these performances, each and every note is a gift, says Clueso even himself. There is a lot of improvising going on during the concerts, therefore each time something new. Whether instrumentals or vocals, you can always see that shimmer in the musician's eyes--the fun that they have, the passion and love that they emit. Not only is the music free and individual, but also the size of the trio is constantly being transformed and redefined.
The trio is sometimes even expanded into a quartett, together with Paul Brody, the American jazz trumpet player who dabbles around a bit in each genre. Brody adds flair to the Bernewitz Trio, not only through his playing, but also simply through his presence. He's almost like a chansonnier on stage... he speaks via his trumpet and musically illustrates songs like a magical artist. When Clueso plays with the Bernewitz Trio, he not only interprets well-known songs, but also presents and performs completely new songs. Songs full with love, devotion, and commitment. "Clueso & Bernewitz feat. Paul Brody" is indeed more than just a chapter in Clueso's biography, it's a new dimension in his artistical work.
Keep an eye out for more shows in the fall!
